Terms of Service

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and TimeLine App LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("TimeLine", "we", "our" or "us"). They cover the TimeLine app on iPhone and Android and our website, join-timeline.com. By creating an account or using TimeLine, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use TimeLine.

2. Who can use TimeLine

You must be at least 18 years old to use TimeLine. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you are allowed to use TimeLine under the laws that apply to you. You may not use TimeLine if we have previously banned you.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.

Do not create accounts to impersonate someone, to get around a ban or limit, or for any fraudulent purpose. We may reclaim a username that impersonates someone or infringes a trademark.

4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

TimeLine has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account responsible may be permanently banned without warning.

Objectionable content includes anything that:

• is illegal, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene or threatening;
• shows nudity or sexual activity, or is sexually explicit;
• sexualizes minors in any way;
• shows real-world graphic violence, gore or serious injury;
• promotes violence, self-harm or terrorism, or attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national origin;
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
• is spam, malware, phishing, a scam, or otherwise deceptive;
• is meant to intimidate, harass or bully another person.

Abusive behavior includes targeted harassment, repeated unwanted contact, impersonation, posting someone's private information (doxxing), and any other conduct meant to harm another person's experience on TimeLine.

Every moment, comment and profile has a report option, and you can block anyone to stop them contacting you and hide their content from you. We review reports promptly.

Our Child Safety Standards explain how we prevent, report and act on child sexual abuse and exploitation.

5. Your content

You own the moments and other content you post. TimeLine is public, so what you post can be seen by everyone on TimeLine, and by anyone with a shared link, except content in groups, direct messages, unopened TimeCapsules and scheduled moments.

When you post, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, distribute and adapt your content (for example resizing it, or showing it in feeds, Charts, notifications and shared links), so that we can operate, improve and promote TimeLine. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for up to 30 days, and except where others have already reused it as described below.

Some features let other people build on what you share: Remix and Freestyle over a beat you post, items you share to a community library (memes, trivia packs, levels, beats, challenges and recipes), and quoting or reacting to a moment. When you use those features, you also let other TimeLine users use that content inside TimeLine for that purpose.

Only post content you made or have the rights to share. That includes music: uploading someone else's song, or a cover without the songwriter's rights, can get the moment removed and your account limited.

6. Copyright policy

We respect the rights of creators and respond to notices of copyright infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content on TimeLine infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright notice" and include:

• your name, address, phone number and email address;
• a description of the copyrighted work;
• a link to the moment or content you believe infringes it;
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
• a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
• your physical or electronic signature.

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Include your contact details, the content that was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal courts in Texas, and your signature.

We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

7. Things you may not do

• Access, probe or disrupt our systems without permission, or get around our security or rate limits.
• Scrape, crawl or collect data from TimeLine, or collect information about other people without their consent.
• Use bots, scripts or other automated tools to post, follow, like or message.
• Send spam or unsolicited messages.
• Cheat at games, tamper with scores, or manipulate Charts, votes or rewards.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or copy the app, except where the law allows it.
• Use TimeLine for anything illegal.

8. How we enforce these terms

We may remove content, limit what an account can do for a while, void game scores or rewards that look tampered with, or suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or put other people at risk. We may report illegal content to the authorities. If you think we made a mistake, email [email protected] and we will take another look.

9. Features with their own rules

• TimeCapsules and scheduled moments. We work hard to publish them on time, but we can't guarantee they will appear at an exact moment, or that the service will still exist on a date far in the future.
• Daily Bots. Some accounts, such as DailyDad, DailyWord, DailyGuess, DailyTime and SportsBot, are run by TimeLine and post automatically. You can hide them in Settings.
• AI lyric writer. Lyrics written by Studio's lyric writer are generated by an AI model. They may be inaccurate or resemble existing songs. You are responsible for what you post.
• Sports scores and predictions. Scores and game information are for fun and may be delayed or wrong. Do not rely on them for betting or any other decision.
• Links and embedded content. Moments can include links and players from other services, such as YouTube or Spotify. We do not control those services, and their own terms apply.

10. Virtual items and purchases

TimeLine may offer virtual items, such as card borders, themes, game unlocks and gifts, which you can earn or buy. They give you a limited license to use them in TimeLine. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred except by gifting inside TimeLine. We may change or retire items.

Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are covered by their payment terms and refund policies. Contact them for refunds. Prices may change.

11. App stores

If you got TimeLine from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and TimeLine App LLC, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support, or any claim about it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow the app store's own terms when you use TimeLine.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo, and that you are not on any US government list of restricted parties.

12. Our intellectual property

TimeLine, its name, logo, design, code and original content are owned by TimeLine App LLC. You may not use them without our written permission, apart from sharing links to TimeLine and moments. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.

13. Ending your use of TimeLine

You can stop using TimeLine at any time, and delete your account from TimeVault → Settings → Account → Delete account. See Delete your account for other ways. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering TimeLine. The sections on your content, our intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law continue to apply after your account ends.

14. Disclaimers

TimeLine is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that TimeLine will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that content will never be lost. We are not responsible for content posted by other people.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TimeLine App LLC and its owners and team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, TimeLine. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

16. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold TimeLine App LLC harmless from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your content, your use of TimeLine, or your breaking these terms or the law.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as TimeLine changes, and will change the date at the top when we do. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using TimeLine after the change, you accept the updated terms.
